I did MKSAP 14 questions and made notes based on the key points, and I plan to review this note before my test. I thought to share this notes with you guys.

MKSAP 14 neurology notes:
1. A spinal cord disorder should be considered in any patient with bilateral motor and sensory dysfunction in the extremities in the absence of signs or symptoms of brain or brainstem dysfunction.
2. Spinal cord compression due to epidural metastasis is a neurologic emergency for which urgent MRI of the entire spine is appropriate.
3. Vertebral artery dissection typically presents with neck or head pain, Horner's syndrome, dysarthria, dysphagia, decreased pain and temperature sensation, dysmetria, ataxia, and vertigo.

Anemia, General Principles
• Definition à Hb < 13.5 g/dL (Hct < 40) in men or Hb < 12 g/dL (Hct < 37) in women • Most useful classification of anemia (based on MCV or mean corpuscular volume): 1. Microcytic (MCV < 80) à Iron-deficiency anemia, sideroblastic anemia, anemia of chronic disease, lead poisoning, thalassemia 2. Normocytic (MCV 80-100) à aplastic anemia, anemia of chronic disease, myelofibrosis/bone marrow infiltration, chronic renal failure, hemolytic anemia, early stages of iron-deficiency anemia, hemorrhage 3. Macrocytic (MCV > 100) à megaloblastic anemia (vitamin B12 and/or folate
deficiency; drug-induced), liver disease, myelodysplasia, reticulocytosis

=mixed metabolic+respiratory acidosis, because if it were simple metabolic acidosis, then PCO2 would have been=1.5*HCO3+8=1.5*16+8=32mmHg and in this case it is 40mmHg, so there is also a respiratory acidosis
